dissassemble
Alright now I have the proper wrench but I'll be damned if I can loosen that barrel bolt. I am not sure this gun has been dissassembled since 1907. Any thoughts on loosening things up? thanx flanman

Re: Lines on an aperature rear sight
Thank you I will see what I can do for sighting it in with the wide and narrow opening and telescoping. Sounds like I might need several loooonnng days at the range and thus not be able to complete my honey do list

Re: Now what
Thank you for the follow-up. I will be getting an aperature sight early next week and will only be disassembling and cleaning with a little shooting as I have learned that you are correct four digit SN in working condition is not a project rifle as a Model 8 but a collector piece( not nec greatest v...

Aperature sight
Slowly I am learning what is what. I now know the swivel is not for a sling but is the forestock screw and the hole in the back of the receiver is not a bubba job but a missing aperature sight. Any ideas on where I get one and how I ensure it is period correct for a 1908 Model 8? flanman

Now what
Well I stopped at my local gun shop looking for a summer project. The goal was to find a rifle to strip down literally to bare wood and shiny metal then refinish the wood and reblue it. Well as a Colt man( dont hit the monitor and yell at me yet) I was not aware of what a Model 8 was until I got hom...
