Re: Was the .300 Savage made in the Model 8?
Ran into this myself with a Model 8 owner whose rifle was chambered in 300 Savage. What should I look for on the rifle for repair markings?

New to old guns
So, my interests in firearms, until recently, have been modern weapons. Until I got that old 30-30 from my grandfather-in-law before he passed my collection was all metal and plastic. Now that I have some pretty "mature" guns ;) I'd like to get some expert advice on what to use to protect ...

Prices
I know this could be a broad spectrum but I am quite new at the Model 8/81 buying. Since I have one now, I know I will want more. What are some average prices for Model 8s and Model 81s? I would hate to go to a gun show, see a decent looking model 8 for $900 and then find out it that it would only b...

Re: My Model 81
Thanks 81Police!. I have been doing some superficial cleaning up. There is some surface corrosion on the barrel under the forearm grip. The wood is in fantastic shape, the bore is bright and the bolt is immaculate. Can't wait to shoot this baby. Good info to know on the checkering. before I spend bi...

Re: Introducing myself
Amazon was way to expensive. Try this one. Good people and the price is right. Brand new, hard cover, nearly 1/2 the cost of the used ones on Amazon.

My Model 81
Guys, I just bought this gun. Did a little research and found one in good shape. I can post more pics if you like, but would like to get your opinion based on the auction at GB where I got it. Take a looksey and let me know if I overpaid, underpaid, etc. Based on others I have seen on auction I thin...

First Model 81
Hello everyone, I stumbled across this site today. Wish i had found it before I bought my Model 81, but it would not have mattered, I would still have bought it. I saw one on consignment in a local gun shop about 6 months ago that was in pretty bad shape. I believe it was a .35. I did not get it, bu...
