stripper clips
I don't know if any of you use stripper clips,or if this is old news. When I got my dies for the 25 Rem. I noticed that it used the same shell holder as my 6.5 Grendel. The 6.5G can be formed from 7.62x39 brass, so I tried an AK stripper and it worked. I've seen 30 Rem. clips going for $3o apiece , ...

Re: looking for a gunsmith
I hadn't noticed the videos either. That will be a big help. FTE for me is failure to eject. To me a cratered primer is one where material is pushed back into the firing pin opening in the bolt. The light strikes to me are either crud or broken parts. I'm praying for the former. When broke this down ,...

Re: looking for a gunsmith
Cratered primers, light strikes and FTE. I had an older (he's a vet of the war before mine) gentleman tell me that the 117gr RN bullet was to light. I can't really see that as the problem. It looks like I'll just have to bite the proverbial bullet, and try taking the bolt out and apart. There is a ni...

looking for a gunsmith
As stated before model 8 has a couple of problems. I'm not sure but it might have a headspace problem as well. What I think I need is a gunsmith to check the whole thing out, and tell me if it's a shooter or a wall hanger. Ideally one in the SW Wy. or N Utah area who has some experience with these r...

Re: buttplate? and old ammo.
Thanks for the input. All that I've ever ( except for ARs and G43s) really worked with are Mil Surp bolt actions. It's kind of amazing how much went into these older designs. Now all I need is some more brass and a set of dies. It's sort of funny that had I not tried to shoot this rifle, I could hav...

dies
I just want to get this right. The 25-35 win dies will work for the 25 rem., just using a different shell holder.

buttplate? and old ammo.
Took my "new" model 8 out today. Not a really great start I was given18 rounds of real 25 rem. umc ammo. tried firing 8 , I got six light strikes and two fte. Gawd knows how old this ammo is,as it doesn't look to have been reloaded. As soon as I can break her down (takedown screw is soakin...

Re: Hello
I just checked, at present I load 25 calibers. Just haven't been able to find 25 Rem. brass, but then that's part of the "fun". I live in the heart of fly over country, so I get my supplies on line or at gun shows( one of our state senators is my best dealer).

Re: Hello
My bad, I've been dealing with a lot of metrics lately. D on.t know where the 7 came from. It's a 25 rem.. Sort of a heart stopper to see a box of ammo for this and find out it's $100 . A guy had one at the show today. It's sort of jarring after buying surplus ammo at 15 cents a round. To think payi...

Hello
Old fng reporting in. I just got my first Mod. 8 at a show about six hours ago. I know very little about the rifle, other than that it looked to be in great shape. It's in 7MM Rem and has a 27,xxx serial no.. A little research shows that it may be bear to feed. Hope I can find brass or ammo for it, ...
