Got stocks from Silver Hill Holding. They look pretty good but I have some work to do to make 'em pretty.
Does anyone know where I can get a simple old fashioned sling swivel (no QD or plastic) for a 3/4" wide sling?
OR a 1" swivel to replace the front one on the take=down stock screw.

Re: Original finish
Sarge, I'm restocking my dad's 08. He had much shorter arms than mine and bobbed the stock WAY back and fitted a inch and three quarters recoil pad. I'll keep the original wood for sentiment, but am getting a new stock more to my size.

Re: Vacation pics
I spent a lot of time in that country (I lived in Logan, Utah) and further north in Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana, too. Wonderful hunting in those days. I was much younger then and haven't been back up there since about 1965.

Original finish
My apologies if this has been addressed already.
What was the original finish on the Model 8 and what approximates it today?
Thanks.

Re: Rem Model 51
I finally got ahold of the smith I mentioned and he says he won't work on pocket pistols.
Back to my original dilemma: does anyone repair these things...preferably in my part of southern California? (ZIP 91764)

Re: want to buy a fore end nut
Bob's Gun Parts let me down for replacement stocks, so I'm adding a different request: I'll consider buying a very good straight grip butt stock with butt plate for an 8 and will take a complete matching forearm if available.

Re: Rem Model 51
I knew a man who was pretty much an expert on anything Remington. I am confident that he could have fixed it but he died about 3 years ago and I'm left with one very good smith who might be able to do it, but is nearly impossible to reach.
Still looking for help if anyone has any to give.
Thanks.

Re: Rem Model 51
I picked one up in .32. (One-upped myfriends with Colt 1903s.
) It looks great but won't feed from the magazine...and spare mags are as scarce as eyebrows on eggs.
Who works on these, preferably someone close to Pomona / Montclair /Ontario, California?

Re: New Pics of my Model 8 part 2
Looks just like my No. R6. Marble's still has the eye piece in stock, both the Vintage #2 and #3 styles.
I have two of the #3 in the For Sale ads. You can see them on the Marble's web site.

Sarge, Harold Kelly at the Gun Rack has one. It'll be on the way in a day or two.
Thanks very much.

Re: Want a rear sight
Thanks, Sarge. I have the elevator and screws. For that matter I have the sight, too, but it's warped to one side and can't be repaired.
I'll send in my bid.
Thanks again.
