Any of you guys ever heard of a left handed 8?
Ran into a guy the other day that swore his father in law had one. Guy's name was "Lefty".
I never heard of such a thing, but wasn't sure enough to challenge him.

http://texashideout.tripod.com/bc.htm Guys: Go to this website and check it out. It is really cool. Click on "Barrow Guns" and scroll down to see the borrowed Remington model 8A 35 Remington that Prentis Oakley used to fire the first shot (and last as far as Clyde was concerned) of the &qu...

Re: Gun Broker and similar sites
On any reserve auction you have to watch for "straw bidders" or "pushers". Usually buddies of the seller who know what the "reserve price" is in advance. On most auction sights you can end the auction until the "reserve" is met. When you see the same 2 or 3 gu...

Re: Reminton Model 8 25-35
These show up occasionally on the auction sites. It's not all that hard to find ammo as they shoot the regular old 25 Remington ammo. It's a lot harder to find the 25-35 stamped gun than ammo to shoot in it. There was a minty 25-35 Rem up on gun broker this summer with 250 rounds of vintage ammo. Gu...

Re: Price inflation!!
I saw that one also and was actually going to take a swing at the thing.
I figured it might get up to $1000, but $2587? Unbelievable. I wonder if the seller actually got paid off? Sometimes people get crazy in the heat of the moment and reconsider their bids once they sober up.

Model 8 Restoration
Hello to all. I'm new to the forum and some of you may have seen the pictures of my model 8 that I posted in the new guy section. If not here she is. As you can see she's been around the block a couple of times. The gun has been in my family for 4 generations. It has no value the way it is other sen...

Re: Bonnie and Clyde
Where is Prentiss Oakley? He is the man that reputedly fired the first round of the 'battle' from the staggering range of 25' (8 yards) straight through Clyde's brain with the model 8 35 Remington that he borrowed from a dentist friend of his. According to a lot of historical accounts I have read it...

Safety latches
I'm a new guy so ya'all got to take it easy on me for a while and put up with lots of dumb questions. First question I have concerns the safety latches on these deals. Most of the ones I have seen are the type that have a pin on them and are pressed in. I've seen some 81's that are have a screw hold...

Yeah: It ain't much to look at and I know it ain't worth nothn', but I'm kind of attached to the thing for obvious reasons. Lookn' to expand my knowledge and collection of 8's. Been collecting Savage 99's for a while. These model 8's are way cool and a lot more reasonably priced. I could have bought...

Re: Another new guy
This is a picture of my model 8. Serial #9490. 35 rem. Not much blueing left on it, but no rust or pitting anywhere. This is exactly the way it looked the day my grandfather gave it to me in 1979. Killed my first buck with it. A gigantic 8pt buck that dressed out at 190lbs. I don't know a whole lot ...

Another new guy
What a great forum, can't believe I was able to find this. You guys were not easy to find! I knew there had to be some other guys out there that were into model 8's! I grew up in the Adirondack mountains of Northern New York. The most popular guns carried in the woods in those days were model 8's an...
