No Idea. But I've got you beat. I picked up this Model 81 in 300 Savage last week with five holes in that area plus five smaller ones below for yet another mount.

Loads for .300 Savage and .35 Remington needed
I need a light "plinking" type lead bullet load for both the .300 Savage and .35 Remington in the 8/81. I've tried a light load in the .35 Remington using 158 gr lead bullets I had, but it did not cycle reliably.
