Re: Model 8 foend project
Roger, Thanks for the input. Yeah, I do not actually know about the butt stock. The idea of it being an A5 was put forth by others on this forum. No matter. It is a beautiful rifle that someone cherished and invested in. I will have to think about the checkering. It would look nice.

Model 81 Range Report
My new, to me, Model 81 .35 won on Gunbroker. Finally got brass, bullets, dies etc and made it to the range. The load is 200 gr. Hornady RN over 33 grs. of IMR3031. I sighted in at 75 yards and got comfortable. Then moved the target out to 100 yards. The attached photo shows the results. The top two...

Model 8 foend project
When I first joined this forum a few months back I posted a photo of a Model 8 that I had just picked up. It was pretty much determined that it jad been re-blued, the buttstock replaced with one from a Browning A5 and the bolt cover had been jeweled after market. About my third trip to the range the...

Getting the old gal to shoot
I posted a little while back that I had acquired my first Model 8 in .32 Rem. It came with 6 loaded rounds and 40 pieces of brass. Of course I imediately ran to the range and blew off the 6 loaded rounds. The first 5 rounds were flawless and printed about 5" at 100 yards. The lone 6th round fir...

Oh man, I got it bad!
A month ago I stumbled across a Model 8 in .32 at a good price and I grabbed it. Now I have been bitten badly by the 8/81 bug. I just won the rifle below on Gunbroker/ Should have it in a week or so. The pictures are the sellers. I spoke to him on the phone and it was his father's who passed away re...

Re: Cast Bullets?
Thanks for the input. Right now I am waiting on reloading dies to arrive and I have some jacketed bullets that I will load up first. I also have more brass on the way. Once I get this gun shooting I will start playing with cast bullets.

Re: Cast Bullets?
Also for what it is worth I used to own a Winchester 1907 .351 self loader that shot cast boolits like a champ. Not the same rifle I know, but at least a similar category I think.

Re: Cast Bullets?
The Lyman manual lists #321317 and #321297 with gas checks for the .32 Rem.. It only gives 2 powders, 2400 and Unique and mentions that Unique will not cycle the Model 8/81 although the Model 8 is listed as the test rifle. I wil be reloading the .32 Rem. and would like to hear any first hand experie...

Cast Bullets?
So I just acquired a Model 8/81 (still to be determined) in .32 Rem. I am an avid boolit caster. Anyone here cast for these rifles? What has been your experience? Any recommendations?

Re: New guy from MA needs help?
Ok, so here are a few close ups. All else aside I love this rifle. It may not be correct, but someone loved this rifle. To me it is a piece of history. It would be great to know how it arrived at today. What has it seen and experienced. Regardless, I will make this big dog bark again and it will liv...

New guy from MA needs help?
Greetings all. One of my dream guns from childhood was the Remington Model 8 or 81. I always wanted one. Yesterday my dream came true. Although I am not completely sure what I have. I stopped by a local shop and they had a few guns that an elderly gentleman had brought in to sell. One was an 81A. Al...
