If it can be assumed that the serialization of these rifles began with #0001 (and that is a huge assumption), then mine is probably from sometime late in the 19-teens. I have serial #23XX. Serial numbers and production dates
Has anyone found any information on the serial numbers of the FN rifles, and their production dates? I would very much like to ascertain the year the one i have was produced. I have already been in touch with FN, and although they did try to find some answers, they were not even able to confirm that...

Well, my wife and I both have 870's, mine in 12 ga., hers in 20 ga..
More interesting, though, is a Targetmaster single-shot .22 I inherited from my grandfather. It is equipped with an old (early to mid 50's era?) Weaver 6X scope. That thing is a tack-driver to this day!

5 is plenty... if you can put 'em all on target! I found that my 1900, equipped with the tang-mounted peep sight, makes that pretty easy to do.
