Hey Roger! Glad to hear from you. Yes, it has been a long time, hasn't it? My problems in any of the hobbies (not really that many) that I enjoy are completely related to my amount of "free time" - which is not much! I still teach in elementary school; the past 5 years has been in Kinderga...

Re: can the Model 8/81 function without magazine indicator?
Thank you for answering my question. Yes, what they call "magazine indicator" in the schematics does act as a bolt hold-open, so I also thought it was not strictly necessary for function.
I appreciate the response!

can the Model 8/81 function without magazine indicator?
As my title reads, I am wondering whether the magazine indicator assembly is absolutely essential to the cycling and function of the Model 8/81 rifle. I am in possession of a Krieger-modified assembly, which has had the stud mount drilled and tapped so that it can be screw-mounted into the side of t...

Been looking for a replacement barrel in .300 SAV for my 1945 Krieger conversion. Barrel is burst from an overpressure, sometime in the long ago past. Any decent .300 barrels out there, especially with a CMT or CM1 stamping, please let me know. Thank you! Adam Freeman

Wow, that is certainly a great looking early 81 regardless of the Krieger conversion - and the scope setup - all as one great package! I appreciate the inspiration. I have a 1945 Krieger converted 81 that is a pile of loose parts, awaiting resurrection. It is also drilled and tapped for a scope, but...

The Highwaymen had its inaccuracies, but the acting and story were really good. Beyond the faults and artistic license, I didn't like the depiction of Bonnie's behavior and I won't reveal why. Re: researching the history behind Remington gun markings
Another interesting observation is the "tidiness" of how these stamps were applied. If you look at the earliest of guns, like 1906 guns, the stamps were applied symmetrically, stamped deeply and even, and organized in a way very pleasing to the eye. Compare those with later Model 8 guns, ...

Makes one wonder if they used the same inspectors for all the lines of production. That is exactly what I'm curious about - when Remington was mass-producing the 4, 6, 8, 10,11,12,14, etc rifles and shotguns were these guns all streaming down the same aisle, so to speak? I've seen the "comma&q...
