Re: Serial on my Model 8 Peerless
Hibby83: One last discovery. I was searching the "G" engraving tie-in and I found this Rem Model 10D, engraved by Wilbur Glahn, around the same time as my M8D. It's interesting that the treatment of the Serial Number area is essentially the same. The arrows, the simple scrolls with the pun...

Re: Serial on my Model 8 Peerless
I hadn't thought of an initial! The GS where I stole - I mean bought it, thought it was a model G and couldn't find it in their book. It has extra engraving on the magazine too:

Serial on my Model 8 Peerless
I am wondering what the "G" is above the serial number? It's a Grade "D" and I don't find any references. Thank You.

Re: Count me in
I appreciate the warm welcomes - Jack and Cam. This flare-up of jackitis has drained my play money and kept me working for hours on minor repairs. Just the ticket! The number 1's sight is now repaired, the post unbent and the detent adjusted so it stands up straight. Now I'm really worried about the...

Re: Count me in
Thanks Roger. I'm west of Denver and both shops are within 5 miles of me. Maybe I should leave the glasses in the car from now on.

Re: Count me in
Boy, is that a nice rifle! It has a sight that is yet another in what will become a long line of things I haven't seen before. I noted the sling attachment point discussion and had already prepared an inquiry about my 1910 #1 swivel attachment points. They certainly appear to be contemporary to me, ...

Re: Count me in
Thank you Phirbird for the repair code heads up. It hadn't occurred to me that the rifle might pre-date the date codes. You were right and my A seems to be of 1910 manufacture and the D is 1916. All the better for me! I like them older than I am - the more the better.

Thank you for the kind welcome gentlemen. Boy, are these hard to take pictures of at night but here are some representative pics. The 8A has no barrel code and is serial #19,8xx.

Hi; Well, my name's Wayne and I'm a collector. "Hi Wayne" :? It's been 6 hours since my last purchase, a 1935 Model 8D. You see it went like this...I have a Stevens 425 in .25 Remington. Then I'm in a shop and they have a 1914 Model 8A in .25 Rem. on the shelf, maybe 60%, with a replaced f...
