Re: Cast Boolit Range Report

I, too, am an avid cast boolit shooter and I plan to load some up soon in my Model 81 .300 Savage. I've been using AA5744 mostly. Cast bullets are accurate, inexpensive, easy on the barrel and a hoot to shoot. Keep us posted on your load development and thanks for the photo.

Re: Hello Model 8 Forum

Welcome aboard, Andy! I just signed up here a couple of days ago myself. Nice looking Model 8 you have there. I'm thinking the tang sight that is on it now would serve you better than any open sight. My tang-sighted rifle has a well designed steel sight blank held in place by two screws where the ol...

Re: Action spring plug

The wooden plugs will last just fine over the years. The Browning A-5 shotguns use the same setup, although later designed shotguns like Remington 1100's use steel plugs.

Re: Newbie member!

Yes, the wood is in great shape and I had just a little doubt about the checkering pattern and the 81 Standard or 81B grade question. I just now pulled the buttstock off and the serial number is stamped on the lower tang area of the buttstock, as it should be. This might just be a standard 81 rifle ...

Newbie member!

Hello, all Remington 8/81 admirers! A little about myself. I'm a 68 yr.old codger living up in the high plains of northeast Colorado. Semi-retired now, I've spent most of my life working with fireams, first as a gunsmithing student at Trinidad in 1965, then in the military as an armorer and winding ...
