Re: Peep windage adjustment/mod?
I guess shimming will be my next step. I'm already happy w/ the load development (no leading, tight groups, reliably works the Mod 8 action)... plus, as I found here, there's no way I'm going to mod the peep site base!

Peep windage adjustment/mod?
front.JPG I have a flip up rear aperture (as pictured) on my Mod 8. Also, there's a flip up rear buckhorn style sight on the barrel shroud. I've zeroed using Lever-revolutions, to (pretty amazing) success, as I posted here: http://thegreatmodel8.remingtonsociety.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4...

1909 Model 8 precision
Just thought I'd throw this out there.... So I got to the range yesterday to retest my 1909 Model 8 after fitting a new extractor. That was working fine, no issues. So using Hornady Leverevolution 200gr FTX’s (I don’t really have time now for load workup), I got the front sight drifted to center sho...

Importance of takedown washer
My 8 was missing the takedown lever & that spacer washer underneath when I bought it. No biggie; I drew up a new lever as measured from a buddy's 8 & had it laser cut from 1/8" stainless. As for that spacer washer that orientates the lever to swing straight down when tightened, I used a...

Remington Model 8, 35 rem, need cast load help!
I just picked up a model 8. It's shooting under 1" @ 50yds with Sierra's 200gr RN on initial load workup of 35 to 37gr of IMR3031. I still have more tweaking to do on that, but the hard to come by jacketed bullets got me thinking about trying some cast. I have a #358429 180gr Keith mold, and a ...

Re: Firing Pin springs
Well, at least I got one question answered: it's grouping just under 1" @ 50yds. That should get better when (if) it warms up & I can work with it more.

Re: Firing Pin springs
81 police/Sarge756: I too just picked up a model 8 in 35 Rem. It's a 1916, sn/37,xxx. After disassembly for cleaning, I noticed some prior owner made the firing pin. It does work, but for how long, who knows. I ordered a new Glend Arms one from MidwayUSA, (product# 941241) and was wondering if this ...
