Heads-Up on 4 M-8s and One M-81 in Fort Worth
FYI: The Fort Worth Cabela's must've bought a collection. There were 4 Model-8s (.25, .30, .32, and .35) and a single Model-81 (.30) in the used racks this morning. All were worn, but serviceable and not abused and with a couple having repairable holes from sling swivels on the buttstock. The .25 wa...

It only takes two committed bidders to drive an auction.
Maybe the winner had a sentimental attachment to the rifle? I've paid cousins outrageous sums of $$ for certain family firearms that I wanted to retrieve before they were ruined, lost, or sold off.

Great gun show story! Just goes to show you that you can't find anything if you don't go out and look. :) I find it MUCH more satisfactory to shop at a larger gun show or used gun store where I can examine things with my own eyes. xtimberman, The 1895 rifle is one of the U.S. contract muskets. It was shipped from Winchester to the Springfield Armory on January 12, 1899. One of 10,000 total ordered, it was in the last shipment of 1,000. The rifle is marked U.S. on the receiver ring and there are several KSM inspector marks on...

Adam, Check the ammunition section on this site. Might help date your ammo. If before 1930 they might be corrosive primers. In that case clean the bore as if it was black powder.I don't know for sure when non-corrosive primers came into use but my fragile memory says late 1920's. I'm curious. Any n...

That's great-looking vintage .32 Rem. ammo, Adam. Old-timers used to call the jacketed bullets with the broad exposed lead tip as "Blue Nose" bullets. They accounted for a lot of game! You normally can't tell if they are loaded with 150gr. or 170gr. bullets without pulling a few examples a...

The cone-shaped cavity in the seating plug provided with the Lee .35 Remington die set will perfectly accommodate seating Hornady FTX bullets without damaging the flex tip or deforming the copper jacket in any way. Likewise for the 200r. Hornady RNs and SPs. I do have a question, though... This part...
