Trying to avoid the cost of buying a new one, so I thought I would ask if anyone has one for borrow/rent or knows who might have one.
Thanks!

Re: A Model 8 from 1912, and an issue
Finally got the .25 to the range. Loads consisted of the Hornady 117-grain RN over 26.5 grains CFE223 in Grafs brass. Poor old Model 8 scattered the 117s at random. At 25 yards, four of five shots hit the 25-yard slow-fire pistol target -- oddly two a half-inch apart at 11 o'clock and two an inch ap...

Re: A Model 8 from 1912, and an issue
9.3 Shooter, I still have the Model 8. I did not seek a full refund because I didn't want to let go of it completely on the off chance it can somehow be made to shoot. Dies, brass and bullets are due here on Tuesday, so I should have an update in a few days.

Just heard from a wiser man than I -- and there are so very many of them!
--that the barrel, once free of the jacket and springs, disassembles further, to the point it might not be ruinous to have a new one turned and chambered. Help Mr. Wizard!

Model 8 barrel diameters?
Hey, does anyone know if the barrels on the four Model 8 calibers are the same outside dimension at the narrowest point, or were they turned to different minimum diameters based on the cartridge to be chambered?

Re: A Model 8 from 1912, and an issue
In regard to this rifle, have posted this on a couple of forums: Guys, I have been watching for years for a Model 8 in .25 that I could afford. I spotted one Sunday at Guns International and reached out to the seller, Collectors Firearms of Houston, TX. The deal was done and the rifle arrived Wednes...

Re: A Model 8 from 1912, and an issue
Hibby, nice to hear you found a .25 as well. I think what I will do is shoot it first and see how it performs. I only just ordered bullets, brass and dies from Grafs yesterday, so I won't have any test ammo until next week. I am continuing the Wipeout cycles and still getting deep blue patches, so t...

A Model 8 from 1912, and an issue
I just bought a Model 8 in .25 Remington from a large "collector gun" seller in Houston. They said it had "strong rifling" which always makes me a bit uneasy. But when the rifle arrived this morning it looked to be in pretty decent shape. No cracks in the wood so far, metal mostl...

Re: Feeding issues
Thanks guys. I'll look for some jacketed RNs.
I'll also continue to work with the powder-coated and gas-checked boolit from the Lee 309-170RF mold. Dan, does Henwood list any specific recipes for cast with 2400? That book is currently outside my price range!

Feeding issues
Fired a total of just 10 rounds through the 1923 Model 8 in .30 Remington this afternoon -- one PC cast boolit round and nine rounds of the Hornady 160-grain FTX over 33 grains Leverevolution in resized Graf brass, CCI 200 primer. Wanted to see if the gun went boom and it did, BUT -- I had two failu...

Re: Split case necks on Grafs .32 Rem hand loads
I used the candle method yesterday to anneal 40 of the Grafs .32 cases necked to .30. Shot 10 rounds of handloads this afternoon -- first time shooting this particular rifle -- and didn't have any split necks, so I hope all 50 cases will last a bit.

Tony, I wish you every bit of good luck on your elk hunt. I am sure that .35 Remington will do a fine job and in great fashion. Good, basic Model 8, .30 Remington
I'm pretty pleased with the condition of this Model 8. It has lots of character, but no grave defects and a very good bore. As it was manufactured early in 1923, it will be a century old in a month or two and I might have to hold a birthday celebration. I don't recall having seen this particular two...

Has anyone found a source for a print or "tin sign" of this painting? I have the one of the cowboy/miner facing the bear coming around the corner of the trail, but not this one. It's always such a pleasure to come to this Web site and be greeted by that great image.
