I checked this morning there is nothing on the barrel and the serial number puts it around 1908-09

How to tell the difference between 8/81
I recently purchased a model 8... I think. I'm just wondering if there is a surefire way to identify it as i haven't located it anywhere on the rifle. Thanks in advance.

WTB Model 8 Forend
Im looking to buy a Model 8 in .35 rem. the only thing holding me back is its missing the for-end. Just wondering if anyone knows where i can buy one or get one made. Thanks in advance.
