Re: New 30 Remington
Thanks Hibby83 for the compliments! I’ve had at least one 81 in 30 Rem for close to 25 years, migrated the pump rifles but was only recently aware of the Model 30’s. The 30-06 versions don’t trip my trigger, and ofcourse they’re by far the most commonly encountered versions. For good reason, 30-06 w...

New 30 Remington
Good evening everyone! I picked up my 6th 30 Remington tonight. Not an 8,81, 14, or 141, but a bolt action Remington Model 30 Express!!! This was Remingtons first successful bolt action . Made after WWI, it was based on the P17 or M1917 Enfield. Only made about 22,800 of these. Most were in 30-06, b...

Howdy all, I’m proud to say that I now own SN #22 Model 81. I’ve known about the rifle for many years as it was a dear friend’s of mine. I even got to shoot it before and I actually had the rifle with me at the Great Model 8 shoot that Jack hosted in 2016. Well sadly, my friend Bill passed away last...

That could be factory, I notice it has a factory repair code stamp on the barrel of 1950. I’ve heard Remington would rebarrel models 8’s to 300 Savage (and whatever else it took to convert to 300) at customers request.

Kind of what I thought. I’m tempted to message the guy to see if he’ll take butt plate, stock and fore end and see what sn”s they are. Happy Holidays to all!! Saw a Model 81 today on Gun Broker in 300 Savage, sn in the 20,000 range. What struck me weird was the fact it has a straight stock like a model 8. Appears to be factory because of the larger 81 metal butt plate. Without having the guy take apart the gun to verify serial numb...

Absolutely gorgeous 141!!! I’ve finally accumulated all 3 141 calibers and lucky to have an early 22” barreled model (35)a transition model made in 1936 (30) and a full transition 141 in 32. All 3 are excellent shooters. However, that grade D is a beauty!!!

Thanks, but if you saw it in person, you may change your mind! The pics make it look good! The bluing is gone and the wood is dark from many years of handling. It is worn extremely smooth. For sure reloading is the only way to go. As the owner of 4 Remingtons in 30 and 2 in 32 Rem, it’s the only option. Thank goodness Hornady still makes bullets for the 32 Winchester Special, otherwise the 32 Remington would be way more difficult.

Picked up an 81 off GB. I needed a mate to my 141. Made in 1936, sn 1709. Great bore. Spent 3 hours disassembling and cleaning old grease off internals. Shoots great and perfect function for 60 rounds. Sent a pic of the whole fleet. New one is on the bottom. Then it’s an 81 in 30, model 8 in 30, 14 ...

I just wish Hornady or Speer would make some .358” bullets for the 35 again. Ive been burning up .357 158 gr hollow points to get by. They shoot decent enough. I’ve got a stash of Hornady flex tip ammo, but my only 35 is a 141 pump and they don’t like the pointy bullets. Jams in the tubular magazine.
