Oh. Cool. Thanks for the info. So much for my theory.
It seems much simpler than the Browning/Remington design of the stop screw on the magazine.

Interesting Kreiger Variation
Gents, I got this nice Kreiger 81 from my wife for my birthday. It's really about the perfect set up for everything but stalking. I prefer a svelte aperture sighted Model 8 for that. Anyway, what makes this Kreiger unique is the safety over travel stop. When I first got it I was disappointed that it...

I turned it down and it works now. So it looks like, with an example of one, a Model 11 spring tube is functional. Of course this may have only been tolerance stacking.

I got my Model 11 spring tube. They are NOT the same. The OD is too large. The threads look the same but I don't want to remove one from my other rifle to measure. I'm going to try to turn it down. I'll report back. Definitely not a drop in replacement.

Gents,
I'm 3 screws short of putting together my parts guns. Does anyone have a curved tang stock screw and stock screws for a rubber buttplate?
Thanks!

Re: Round knobs and uncommon buttplates
I'd love to know what the seemingly short run of this variation amounted to. 25, 50, 100 guns...who knows. I know that I love the variation enough that I will buy any one I see if it is at all reasonable, or even unreasonable, LOL. I'd really like to find one in somewhat poor condition to hunt with....

Re: Round knobs and uncommon buttplates
Thanks for the info. I've seen 2 others for sale. Both were .32s and in the 39,XXX range. One was refinished and priced too high for being refinished. The other was a decent gun but crazy overpriced.
It seems there was definitely a run of 39,XXX .32 round knob shotgun butts.

Nice round knobs! The round knob shotgun butts seem to be often 39XXX guns. Mine is 39416. A .32. It is my absolute favorite Model 8. It is light and handles so well. Do you mind telling us the serial number on the shotgun butt round knob?

Receivers and Serial Numbered Parts I'm Looking For
I'm looking for 2 receivers to try to re-assemble into matching number rifles. 16833: This was likely a .30-30 Rem. It has a curved trigger plate. 46992: I have no further info on this rifle. I have the front end. It was likely a .30 originally. I have some parts with both these serials. Additionall...

Gents,
Does anyone know if the Model 8 and 11 use the same action spring tube? An action spring tube is the only part I'm missing to make my drawer of spare parts a complete rifle, LOL. Model 8 tubes are hard to find compared to Model 11 tubes. They look the same and I suspect they are.
Thanks!!

Piece a Lady back together...I'm looking for a receiver
I have the butt stock and magazine for 16833. I bought them from cfnparts.com. By the time I noticed they were matching CFN had already sold the receiver and front end. I hate the idea of defiling a nice rifle for her parts. My parts are in great shape so she must have been in excellent condition as...

I used a triangle file to cut the spring tube longitudinally then 180 degrees away I did the same thing. If youre careful you can do it while only kissing the female threads. Once it is sectioned I used a sharp pick to pry a half up and out. Exceedingly great care must be taken to not damage the fem...

I removed one by carefully cutting through it longitudinally making 2 cuts 180 degrees apart then pulling out the 2 halves. The tube had broken in such a way to proclude an easy out.
The threads were ok.

Same problem. I had 40% of new Graf .32 Remington cases split at neck or shoulder. Annealing solve the problem. New good quality cases should not need annealled. Since I bought the Graf cases I ran into a lifetime supply of Remington rimless cases and don't plan on buying any more Graf.

I've always wanted a custom rifle trunk. To me, very little is as classy as a fitted trunk. My Dad built this one for me. It's a prototype of sorts but a very nice one. It holds a second barrel and has room for ammunition, cleaning tools, sling, turnscrews, and an oil canister (in front of the foren...

Re: sighting issue
The ring sight is called an aperture sight. They allow for much more accurate shooting than open sights. They do this by increasing sight radius and making sight alignment easier. The eye naturally will align an object in the center of a circle because it is brightest there. Because the aperture sig...

They come up for sale. This one is claimed to be original but is a flat top so I don't think it is. It's missing it's elevator but you could use a replacement. Remington would put nearly any sight you wanted on a rifle back then. Your broken one was a No. 95. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NICE-ORIGINAL-R...

I had to choose between .32 and .35 Remington that morning. My .35 has a wonderful trigger so it got the nod. Welcome! I'm glad you're enjoying that 81. I don't think you will damage the extractor since its not a controlled round feed mechanism. On neither of my M8's is the rim under the extractor prior to bolt lock. At the same time I wouldn't drop one in the chamber and let the bolt slam forward. My .35 h...

81 yards
180 Speer at about 2200 fps. The bullet penetrated about 18 inches. Exit wound was 2 inches wide.
