Re: Stock Installatiuon troubles...advice needed
Is this more a problem with the 81 as to the 8? I have two 8's right now, a .25 and a .32. The .25 has an aftermarket buttstock, but the .32 is original to the rifle, still has the SN in the tang slot. Having never had the stocks off before I decided to have a go at it. The .32 was on real good! I g...

Re: Model 14 friends out there?
I did snag a 141 in .35 Rem recently and got to handle it at the LGS yesterday, seemed to be in pretty fair shape, decent bore at least as well as I can tell in the shop. 24" barrel, way better than average figure in the wood. I look forward to shooting it, be about 16 days though with the 10 b...

Also after a good soak, and some heat, give it a couple of good whacks on the end with a block of wood, axe handle or similar to wake it up.

I have a good shooting 8 in .25 Rem, with an after market butt stock. Works fine and fits well, but just doesnt look right especially with an original forearm.
Could work a trade or cash.

Re: Model 14 friends out there?
Am a fan of the pump guns and the .32 Rem, currently own a model 8 in .32 and a .25 as well.
I did once have a 141 in .32 and I recall it shot well, but the Rem 8 probably a little better.
Been working on getting a 141 in .35 Rem, have everything I need but the rifle! Will soon rectify that.

Factory repairs
I seem to remember reading somewhere, maybe here, maybe in the Model 8 book, that when a Model 8 was sent to Rem for repairs, in the time when the 81 was in production, that they might upgrade that model 8 to an 81 configuration.
Sound plausible or am I misremembering things in my aging brain?

Looking for a Model 8 butt stock in good condition. My .25 Rem has an aftermarket stock that fits fine but just doesnt look right on such an old rifle.
It could be traded for with that stock or other parts or money.

It took me a long time to warm to the .32 cal, (except for 8mm ) and before this rifle I had a Remington 141 pump gun in this cal and also still have a Winchester 94 Canadian Railroad Comm. rifle in .32 Win Special that I like.

Took the range again today, this time loads using IMR 4895, same Speer bullet. Also now wears a Lyman tang sight with the folding inner peep, works great.
Loads at 50 yds varied from an inch to maybe 1.5". This is a sweet shooter!

I looked at several manuals, both old and newer and the highest charge I saw for the 170 Speer with 3031 was 34 grs and I only went to 30gr. Best load accuracy wise was 28 and 29 grs. As I have no hunt plans for this rifle, I have no need to push it. I started at 26 grs and that ran the rifle just f...

I imagine you might have some concerns about the winning bidder. He has 3 F's for non payment. I would not be surprised to see that increase to 4 shortly, though I hope not.
Its a real PITA when bidders dont pay.
