Well this a is new gun to me and a quite rare gun I would say. According to Cam in the "Grades of 8s and 81s" this is one of two 81 E grades to surface so far from what he has seen. This one I bought from another "Great mod 8" site member. He bought it back in 2022 off GunBroker....

I need an 81 butt stock that has not been cut. Would take complete stock set or if you had an ugly 81 with a bunch of extra holes in receiver that would work. Please let me know. John Taylor

I did see that residue of varnish on sides of butt plate and figured possibly they varnished it with butt plate in place ??? Any thoughts or definitely an added coat. It certainly wasn’t sanded !! What does everyone think should do ?? Take butt plate off and clean off the varnish or just leave it ??...
