Re: Should I Scope My 81
What condition is your Model 81 in? Is it already drilled for a scope mount? If it is a nice gun and not already drilled and tapped for a scope mount, I would look around for another Model 81 in your caliber which either already has a scope mount or is already drilled and tapped for a scope mount. Oliver, Welcome to the forum! I do not think that a regular magazine or a Krieger conversion type magazine will work on a POE modified Remington Autoloading rifle. I have seen POE magazines for sale maybe once or twice in the past 28 years.

That is such a wonderful setup. I think this is the second cased Remington Autoloader I've ever seen. This is a magnificent example.

Your rifle shipped from Remington in 1915. The "N" and "circle K" are called "assemblers and fitters markings".

I don't know if the trigger guard serial matches, but the barrel matches the receiver. The only thing bad about this gun is that someone drilled holes in the bottom of the forearm and stock to mount now long gone sling swivels.

Re: reloading remington 30 cal.
First thing you need to do is find a source of brass cartridge cases for .30 Remington. The major ammo companies stopped selling loaded .30 Remington cartridges in 1997. Graf's used to sell brass for about a buck apiece, but I think they're out of stock. Some other companies like Midway or Old Weste...

The production code, "RT" indicates it was made in November 1926. According to John Henwood's book, "The Great Remington 8" though, the last rifle shipped from the factory in 1918 was 40,917 and in 1919 was 42,009, which puts your rifle 41033 shipped from the factory in 1919. A R...
