The firing pin, bolt latch spring, swivel and manual have a new home.
I also have a Williams FP-81 peep sight that I will sell for $175. It includes the mounting screw.

There is a guy trying to scam sell this on Armslist right now. He is asking $500. I am trying to get him to reply to my inquiry. He also is trying the same scam with a Marlin 1893.

Re: Another POE - Nassau County?
This rifle was posted for sale on Armslist for $2000 as a scam. The posting there went up on 7-23-16, the day before the gun was sold on GB. I responded to the add on Armslist and got the guy to call me. When mentioned to him that this rifle just sold on GB, he said "that cannot be". I tol...

I first handled my grandfather's model 8 in 35 REM about 1956. I inherited that rifle in 1960 when he passed away. Hunted with that rifle until I bent the receiver traveling through the woods on a 4 wheeler around 1990. That rifle never failed me in 30 years of use in all kinds of weather in Maine a...

Well, the 8E went for 7000 plus 17% auction fee plus 5.5% Maine state sales tax, if picked up at the auction site.
Grand total $8575. Were you in the running Jack?
Nice rifle though. Ayuh!!!

I have no plans to shoot this ammo.

I was interested in this rifle 10 years ago when Glen bought it. It was part of a collection that a deceased mans friend was selling for the man's mother. If I recall, it was listed at either $3000 or $3500. The man had a large collection of 8's and 81's. I used to have the list of his colletion, bu...

Carp, It is good that you have a family heirloom and have enjoyed it. My Grandmother gave me my grandfather's model 8 when he passed in 1960. I cannot count the hours I carried that rifle in the woods hunting. Always reliable no matter the weather conditions. It did not have a stitch of bluing left ...

Wayne, Thanks for the article about the Brady Gang. It has been years since I read an account of their goings-on in Bangor. Even though it has no mention of 8's and 81's, I have included the link to the article here for others to read. I suppose it is possible that 8's or 81's could have been used i...

Remington -- I probably was in Dakens a couple of times. No vivid recollection though. I didn't have a lot of spare time since I was going to school full time at EMVTI and working 40hrs a week at WABI simultaneously. My wife rarely saw me. Moved "away" in 69. I know that took away my "...

Remington, I can attest to the fact that the article about Bill is spot on. His shop was indeed a "lived in" atmosphere at both his old and new locations. He is truely a unique man. I'm glad he is still with us. The Brady gang mentioned were gangsters that had gone to a Bangor shop and ord...

Your mention of Bill Morrison brought back some memories. I lived in Bangor Maine in the mid to late 60's after getting out of the Army. I used to frequent Bills shop. My first attempt to re-assemble my first model 8 was unsuccessful so I took it to Bill. He had it back together in less than 5 minut...

Model 81 Krieger sold for a boat load on RIA auction today
RIA auction sold a Model 81 Krieger with an Alaskan scope today for $2000 plus buyers premium, which would typically be 15 percent at most auctions. The rifle was in good condition, but $2300 !!!!!!!!!! Amazing.

I just acquired this Model 8 marked 25-35. Been looking for a decent one for a long time. My question is about the sling mount on the barrel jacket. I have never seen one like this and can find no reference about it. It looks factory installed or by an expert smith. It is centered perfectly under th...

Hi Mike,
Impressive bunch of 8's and 81's there.
As mentioned, pictures are really needed to see condition and what, if any modifications have been made.
What do yo have to authenticate the 81 in .25Rem?
I sent you a PM.
