WTB:8-81 Safety
Howdy,
I need a safety lever for a fine old Model 8..
The old one works fine, but was welded together...
Gun is apart, so good time to replace it....
I've called all the usual places with no results...
Thanks,
Paul

I have the 8/81 disease!
Howdy Folks, I got my first 81 a few months ago.(35 Rem) I went to a gun show in St Cloud, MN this weekend and picked up a nice 8..(Also 35 Rem) According to the "bible", it was the last one made in 1925. The bbl stamp indicates 1926.. Close enough for me... Very nice condition, bluing alm...

Re: Barrel Nut Wrench
Howdy, I just got my 81 up and running today.. I finally made a tool for the housing nut out of a flat piece of 4140. I held the tool in a vise while turning the housing. It was tight, but came loose.. I removed all the parts, cleaned, greased and reassembled. Lots of gunk inside the housing. I just...

Re: Your First Model 81......
howdy, My first (and only so far) is also a Dec 1938 in .35 Rem. I haven't had it very long so haven't fired it yet. I'm in the process of taking it all apart to check it over, clean and lube it. Looks to be pretty mint. My interest stems from an 81 that my dad had in .30 Rem. My brother has it now....

Re: Barrel Nut Wrench
Howdy, Thanks for all the tips. I borrowed a win 12 ga spanner and my barrel nut just came right off easily....... Now I need to make the wrench to take off the housing nut. I see what you mean by no obstruction after bbl nut is off. I'll post back when I get it apart... Thanks again for the help......

Barrel Nut Wrench
Howdy Folks,
What is being used for a barrel nut wrench? I've looked thru many of the tool catalogs for spanners, etc but nothing is the correct size.
Perhaps someone makes one. I'm a new owner of an 81, so am not up to speed yet on all the resources....
Thanks for your help,
Sincerely,
Paul
