Current Weaver Scope Mounts - Anybody used them?

After some online searching I found that Weaver makes a side scope mount that will apparently fit Model 8 and 81s.

Questions:

Have any of you tried them?

Do they bolt up to existing receiver screws or do you have to have the receiver drilled and tapped?

Thanks,

Re: Local Gun Show

They are really proud of all their inventory in that place until it come time to make an offer on something your selling :x . Imagine that  .

And yes I guess "Mad" and "Texan" are pretty redundant now that I think about.

Re: Local Gun Show

I walked through Collectors Firearms here in Houston yesterday and saw 1 Model 8 in 30 Cal. and 1 Model 81 in 300 Savage. The Model 8 was a standard grade and had a 69XXX serial number and was fairly clean.

They were priced $995 and $895 respectively.

Sent you an email today.

New Model 8 Owner and Site Member

Good Afternoon All, Just wanted to introduce myself as the newest member of the Great Model 8 family. I recently acquired a Model 8 in 35 Rem. from a friend of my father-in-laws for $250. It's serial number 50711 (1925) and has a barrel stamp PXX3 on the left side where the receiver and barrel meet ...
