Resurrecting an 81

Post by WALLY065 »

Hello all, I could use some help.

I was at a shop picking up a S&W model 27 when I was looking through the consignment guns and found a 81 in 300 Savage. The forend wood was missing as well as the butt plate but it wasn't in bad shape. The story is that the previous owner was refinishing the wood when he passed away and the gun sat for many years. Unfortunately the missing parts are lost for good.
I actually felt bad for this old gun and decided to try and get it running again. If anyone can steer me in the right direction I would love to get this old timer squared away.
