Hello Model 8 Enthusiasts,
My name is Scott and 50 years ago I was given a Model 8 by my Grandfather who owned a business in Ilion, NY many years ago. I have tried to take care of the rifle and keep it clean and oiled although I have not fired it in 10 years. I found the following information stamped in the barrel:
Manufactured by The Remington Arms CO Ilion, NY USA
Browning Patents OCT 9 1900, Oct 16 1900, July 3 1902
The serial number does not match those on this web page and I found that strange. S 12435 REM 35
I was wondering if it was rare and if so what it may be worth. I don't want to just keep it around if someone could add it to a collection and or use it.
Thanks for any information you may give me,
Freya59

Congrats on your family heirloom. I've seen a couple other 8's with letters proceeding the serial number. Could you post a picture of the marking?
Most "A" grade Model 8's range in value from $400-800, some going higher all depending on condition.
