Here's a cool BLAST from the past, a full power 8mm long-recoil prototype rifle built by Paul Mauser himself. Unlike John Browning's design, the recoil spring is housed in or around the receiver (Ian doesn't actually disassemble the rifle) rather than around the barrel. But something really cool is the folding operating handle which can be used to disconnect the recoil spring pressure on the barrel, and turn the rifle into a manually controlled straight pull action. Very unique gun especially if you're into long recoil.

Great info Cam. The Mauser brothers were geniuses but did`nt quite catch up with John Browning. Would love to see this prototype in person. Perhaps Jack can add it to the collection and I can drop by again for an afternoon shooting at his farm.
