no markings on receiver new b need help
picked up a rifle from a friend the other day been trying to find info not having any luck he told me it was a model 8 remington and it looks like it the bolt is marked 35 rem. all number matching the barrel has remington with brownings pat. dates. The serial number is180xx the receiver has nothing even the word safety is omitted. need help guys what do i got.

Sir, I'm pretty sure that at the time your rifle was made,there were no receiver markings. There are members here though,that can definitely answer this question. Welcome aboard this forum. You'll find the members to be very friendly and helpful.

Early Model 8's were not marked because they were not yet called the "Model 8" until 5+ years into production (or something like that).
180XX equates to a 1910 production rifle.

What did thy call them Remington automatic rifle? Like the pre woodsman colt automatic pistol.
