Model 8 Buck
Hello everyone, just wanted to post a picture of this 7 point buck that I took December 5th, 2015 with my 1928 Model 8 in 30 Remington. He came through quickly at about 60 yards with his head down trailing a doe and never stopped walking but when the Model 8 spoke, he answered. This is my favorite deer rifle. I really enjoy seeing the other members hunting pictures also.

Congratulations. That is an absolutely beautiful buck. It has very nice main beams & tall tines. Taking that buck with your model 8 will forever be etched in your memory. I am jealous Big Dooley!

No need to hang down your head, Mr Dooley. (Your first name isn't Tom, is it?). Sorry for the bad Joke. Nice buck! Good looking model 8! It answers a question that came up Saturday, as I looked at a Model 8 in a shop in town. The buttplate was the same as yours, with the return at the toe of the stock, not the heel as in Winchesters. I never noticed that before. My Remington's are model 81s and both have had pads added.

Thanks! Glad the picture of my rifle helped you with the butt plate question.

I'm late too. Nice buck and a sweet rifle! Should see my Model 8 in .30 Remington this week. Boy I'd like to put a buck down with it.
Re: Model 8 Buck
What a pair, Congrats.
A note on the butt plates, I've had 2 that had the "return" on the top of the stock. It was a Remington option. Another is the military "S" curve fitted to the butt. A stunning assembly.

Big Dooly,
Nice buck and nice Remington.
Take care where you lay the rifle. My pre 8 rifle has a patch of pitting near the muzzle that likely was caused by blood.
