Howdy,
I'm so excited to get my latest Model 8. It was on GB, and it's and 1918 Model 8-A in .32 Rem. Of course buying sight unseen is always a little un-nerving, so, as the usual protocol for me is to get the rifle home and take it completely apart. It was obviously reblued at some point. The bore is real nice, unlike my 1912 Model 8 in .30. All serial #'s match, except for the butt stock. The gun is SN 40609. The butt stock is 40618. Only 9 numbers off, wondering if it was factory installed this way. It had been neglected for years, with light rust freckling, and looks like it had definitely gotten wet, as there was substantial bright orange rust inside the reciever up to the trigger. Like it was standing up right and flood waters got to it. No biggie. It's cleaning up nicely. The internal parts have almost no wear on them at all. So, that bring my total to 3. Two Model 8's and an 81. And I also have a 141 pump in .32. And I just bought a 141 transitional model in .35 yesterday. Stay tuned for pics on that when it arrives. 4 of the 5 rifles have been added in the last year! Oh my!

The Model 8 32 Rem went to the range today. 53 rounds, zero malfunctions. And this one is a shooter! It really liked 32 grains of H4895 with the 165 grain Hornady FTX. That's 5 shots at 50 yards. Not bad.

Great job on bringing the old girl back to life! Good shooter indeed. Funny how so often when you find a Model 8/81 owner there is more than one and a few Model 14/141s around too.

I do enjoy both the pumps and autos. Some days I have a hard time deciding which I like better! Therefore, I collect both! They are so uniquely different that other than caliber, they may as well not even be made by the same company, not like the 742/760's or 7400/7600's.

Nice! Also, you are a braver...and smarter man than I! I haven't dared to take mine apart. If I did, it might not ever get back together correctly! Probably have a box of parts left over...
