First off is a drag saw we built using a n1 HP motor, we sawed all our winter wood with it about ten cords.

Next is two 80 year old Bowman 234`s running double header, first time I`ve ever seen it done.
The Bowmans don`t have throttles so ya have to regulate the speed with the load behind them.

Re: A few new toys
Enjoyed both the videos. What a great use for 2x4`s. Quiet and efficient with no screaming chainsaw whine and wood chips flying everywhere. Would have to be careful about watchin that saw work and the rythimic sound it makes as it would be easy to get lulled to sleep. Neat train. What fuel do you use?

Re: A few new toys
Thanks Sarge, it`s kinda slow but as ya say beats carrying the chainsaw.
Still have to bring the trees in from the woods which is work.
We sawed quite a lot of wood with it here`s a picture.
The loco`s have a alcohol tank under the cap and six wicks available.

Re: A few new toys
Pitchy you need your own TV show. You're like a deep woods mad scientist.
Really enjoyed the axe collection video. I split my own firewood by hand but living in north TX we don't require much for a year, I only do half - 1/4 cord. Pecan rounds only. Split with a Fiskars X27 splitting axe and sometimes a Fiskars 8lb maul. The splitting axe I've found is much easier for most work, it's around 3-4lbs. When you used to hand split what did you prefer to use?

Re: A few new toys
Thanks Cam, back in the day when we split by hand we used one of those heavy splitting mauls but most my adult life I`ve had a gas powered splitter.
Yep axes are cool but lots of work along with using a misery saw. to old and out of shape now days.
Had fun with the drag saw though.

Re: A few new toys
Pitchy, not to say your model train display is not awesome, but I invite you to come go to church with me until Christmas. Any day is fine. I will put you up for the night and you will be impressed with what volunteers at a God loving church can do.

Re: A few new toys
Pitchy, to prove I am of the old culture. I do have a double bit Kelly Perfect. Probably will always have it since I don't need anything else. ROB
Re: A few new toys
Very cool Rob, I have a couple Bachman G scale trains and I should set up a Christmas scene .
Thanks for sharing the video nice layout and the invitation.
Yep those Kelly perfects are nice, my favorite is the long felling axe the one I fell the tree with.
