Model 8C -35 Remington
Model 8C -35 Remington
Hey fellas,
I've been lucky enough to locate a C- grade model 8, and tentatively have purchased it. 81 Police and Corey Creamer have helped me with their expert opinions, and now it's the old waiting game. I'm pretty excited to get a round knob C grade in 35 Rem. Of course I won't be able to know what condition it is really in, until it is in my hands. At least the seller is offering a 3 day inspection period. I'm sure hoping that it won't be necessary to use it !! I'll probably need one of you guys to post pictures of it for me,as I m computer challenged,to say the least.
Thanks for your time
Roger

Can't wait to see it and hear about it.

Sounds nice, I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures.
Re: Model 8C -35 Remington
We have a model 8 C that was my Dad's. I'm pretty sure it has been metal has been refinished, but whomever did it did an excellent job.
The barrel jacket isn't marked "C" but the buttstock is, so I'm pretty sure its original.

Hey guys, Due to the severe winter weather here,my m8 c is still not here. The USPS was closed for several days and it has really delayed the delivery. I'm hopeful that I will see it soon. It appears to be in Iowa now at least.

Re: Model 8C -35 Remington
Sounds like a 'Top Shelf' purchase Roger. Look forward to your comments and any pics. This Iowa weather esp since the last week of January has been brutal at times. Just went through the three day -33/-25 deep freeze last week (wind chills -50/60), 45*F weekend, and now ice, snow, wind, and calling for -15 temps tonight (Feb 8th). Doesn't look like any February thaw for a while. Do you ever attend any of the guns shows in Cedar Rapids or Des Moines? I hit them several times a year, missed the last few, but hope to attend the March shows. If ya do and if possible, maybe could meet ya and say "Hey". Like to meet a fellow Iowan on the forum and with the same name (Roger) as I.

Re: Model 8C -35 Remington
Hey Rifleman, I go to every Des Moines fairgrounds gun show if possible. My email address is in the address box below my name. Email me to make a plan.Id enjoy meeting another Iowan who likes JMB designed guns.
Thanks for your time

Yes it is a beauty!!! Those are just a pleasure to see pictures of, a dream to see in person, and to hold. Sort of like my desire to see and hold a real German Stg44.

Hey Roger,
A great find! It is a beauty and it looks to be in excellent condition. Defintely worth the wait. Congratulations.
Kindest Regards,

Re: Model 8C -35 Remington
Thanks to 81 Police for posting these pictures. Also thanks to all of you who have said such nice things about the newest addition to my collection. I've already got one C- grade model 8 in 32 Rem. So this one in 35 Rem is a welcome addition. My goal is to get one in all 4 calibers. I'm halfway there. Now that I'm really getting close to retirement, my focus has become to only acquire pieces that are more scarce. I've already got a good start with my Winchester 1892/94 button magazine saddle ring carbines . They are extremely rare in any caliber, representing less than one percent of total production.
So since any higher grade model 8 is more rare and also more costly, I've decided to only concitrate on the C- grades.
Thanks for your time
