Scoped 8
Scoped 8
This one is 30 rem and was already drilled for the scope. At first glance it looks like an 81 but it’s not. Someone has installed an 81 stock on this 8 and did it well. The only down side is the bottom tang is too long but it works .

Very nice! May we see the side with the mount?
I am the cat who walks by himself. And all places are alike to me.
Re: Scoped 8
I picked up a couple new old stock mounts a few years ago and have been patiently waiting for the right model 8 to appear. Adds a bit of weight but It is a good trade off.
Re: Scoped 8
That is unusual. I like. You realize it's a pre-Model 8, referred to a Self Loading Rifle? I'd be real curious if the tang stock screw is in a second tapped hole of the frame tang. A semi grip tang on the early rifles is also unusual. The smith that added the 81 trigger group & stock looks like they did a pretty fair job. Now if the trigger group # matches the frame it's a wonder. I'd say the serial # may be rather low.

The serial number 378xx dates to 1916 according to the book . I am looking forward to see how much the scope will improve my shooting off a bag.
