First off the tang mounted peep sight. This I can live with and it's actually a cool peep sight and it's unlike any I have seen before.
Second the bolt handle has a hex head nut attached. It still works as it should if you get your fingernail under the nut and lift it has a spring loaded pin that allows bolt handle to be removed. I believe I can have my machinist make a pin the way it should be and the correct looking retainer nut. If any one has an old pin or retainer nut that I could borrow so my machinist could get it exact that would be great ?? The rest of bolt handle looks correct.
When the older gent that I bought it from originally bought it there was a scope mount soldered to left side of receiver which he heated up and removed. The older gent forgot to mention the alignment hole behind the mount. That is pretty darn bubba looking for sure !!! Not sure what I can do with that. The older guy did not keep the scope mount unfortunately.
The butt plate has a tiny 1/4" crack above upper screw. That I think I can make go away pretty easily !!
Last the checkering has been worn through usage and then Bubba added a coat of varnish and forgot to clean excess from checkering. Checkering could possibly be chassed by the right guy but will never be like new that's for sure.
Some of the good things =
Both original sling swivels are present.
Both front and back sights look original and rib is in decent shape.
Bore looks very good.
Also without shooting it the action seems to cycle good when done by hand.
It has some pretty wood with only one very fine short 1/2" split to right hand side of upper tang.
I am sure happy to have found a half way decent example of the FN 1900 to add to my collection even with it's issues I love it !!! Hopefully I can improve some of it's issues.
I am going to post a bunch of pictures please enjoy !! John Taylor
