81-D grade Nicest gun I own !!

Here is my first 81-D grade rifle and probably my last. Just got it on Tuesday and I am very happy with it !! Serial number is 51096 made around 1950. Cam has serial numbers 51095 a nice D grade with a Redfield sight on it. Then my gun 51096 and then 51097 another D grade this one with a Krieger magazine set up on it all registered in his data base. Cam says a total of 16 D grade 81s have surfaced so far and I am very proud to own this one !!!! I am going to load a bunch of pictures I just took of mine in kind of a random order. Also biggest pictures I can load are medium sized from my phone so I hope they show up okay.

John, your rifle is up there amongst the finest of all the 16 known "D" grades. What an absolute piece of Remington artwork you've got. It's a stunning rifle and an ode to the Remington craftsmanship of years past.

In my opinion(whatever that's worth!), the 81D's, and yours particularly, are far more beautiful in every way than the ultra rare 81E's and 81F's. This isn't the case with the Model 8, but for reasons I don't know, the 81D surpasses the 81E and 81F in terms of engraving quality, fit, and finish.

It goes without saying, that's a very special rifle!!! I'm happy that you were able to add that beauty to your collection.

Seeing some of these high grades, makes me consider loosening the straps on my wallet sometime in the future!

Thanks guys for the nice replies !!! I agree with Cam in that the fit and finish on this rifle is very nice. The engraving is especially nice and I wish I knew who did it ??? I believe Runge was around at that time but I have a few guns he did and I don't think that the engraving is his but I could be wrong. Who ever did it was very talented for sure !! I have other D grades but none with this amount of engraving.
The wood ain't bad either !! I love it !

Hibby dig deep in your pockets on the next high grade that shows up you will be happy you did !
