Hello, everyone. I am very happy I found this forum. I had owned a Model 8 in 35 Remington which I sold several years ago. Today I own a Model 81 in 300 Savage. I love the 300 Savage round. My Model 81 and Savage 99 in 300 Savage will serve me well hunting deer in West Virginia.

I appreciate the Savage 99's but don't own one. Good luck with the whitetail in WV. Are straight walled cartridges below a certain O.A.L ok to use in Ohio, or is it archery & shotgun only?

You can use straight wall cartridge in Ohio if the cartridge was originally a black powder cartridge. Most common is the 45-70.
