I just purchased a Model 8 in 35 Rem and the serial is 26938 with an "F" over the serial and a circled "K" under it. It does not have the three letter code on the left side of the barrel by the receiver, so I presume it was a May of 1912 production. Other that the patents on the barrel (newest 1907) and a circled Remington over UMC on the tang behind the trigger, there is no other stamping on the weapon. Is it possible that this is a late or transitional rifle before the Model 8?
Thanks for any information that you can provide.
Sincerely, Bruce A Carnal, Master Sergeant USMC EOD, ret.

Welcome to the board.
Remington changed from the Autoloading Rifle to the Model 8 in 1911.
Date codes started around 1921-1922.

Thanks for that info Hibby83.
Was it common for the rifles of this period to be not have the Model stamped?
