Rifling grooves different than Remington

Post by Hibby83 »

Something caught my attention while eyeballing autoloaders doing some wipe downs.

FN 1900's have 6 grooves for rifling, Remington autoloaders have 7 grooves.

Our northern collector friend "CANUCK" supported my findings looking at his examples coming up with the same results. Thanks again!

Now to ask a LOADED* question. Which y'all think is more accurate ¿ 😆 I wonder which supports the light and heavier bullets better?

Hey guys, I’ve got a substantial amount of shooting and reloading experience with m8/81s. However I’ve only shot one of my 2 Fn1900s. It’s been a number of years since I shot it ,but don’t remember being surprised by any better accuracy than any of my M8/81s .I only shot it once because of worries about breaking something that couldn’t be replaced. I’ve never shot my darn near mint FN of Bob creamers for the same reasons. I do know that I killed plenty of deer and shot some pretty good targets with my Remingtons. I know that’s not much help here but I just wanted to weigh in on this subject.
Thanks for your time

Howdy Roger. Thanks for the information/your real world experience.

You definitely have more shoulder time behind the autoloaders than most.

I believe I only have 10-12 shots out of my FN. I share your reasons on not wanting to shoot the hell out of it.

I should measure the rate of twist on both. I'm not sure at this moment how I would figure the data to see what SHOULD* shoot/stabilize 150's-200's best. I believe there's programs out there to help with that.

Luke
Try the 35cal 220g BT, I like it. I'm getting fond of Leverrevolution too. Wish there was more data for it.

Hey guys, I too have quite a bit of experience with the Hornady Leverevolution bullets. They put deer on the ground right now, with the right shot placement. I’ve reloaded 4 Remington M8/81 calibers with them, and they all 4 worked well in our autoloaders. I’ve got real world experiences with them for sure.
