Good evening everyone!
I picked up my 6th 30 Remington tonight. Not an 8,81, 14, or 141, but a bolt action Remington Model 30 Express!!! This was Remingtons first successful bolt action . Made after WWI, it was based on the P17 or M1917 Enfield. Only made about 22,800 of these. Most were in 30-06, but was offered in 25, 30, 32, 35 and 257 Roberts. So, this one was made in November 1926, has a Weaver K2.5 and a Lyman receiver sight. And in 30 Remington!! It has a perfect bore and can’t wait to get it to the range.
I couldn’t resist adding a photo of all my 30 Remington’s!

Re: New 30 Remington
Hi Mike.
Sweet rifle! I likely couldn't have resisted either. It's outfitted nicely with an early scope. I'm sure that recoil is pleasant in that bolt gun.
Whenever they appear online, I watch them. I'm not sure if I've seen more than 1 in person at a gun show. Even sweeter collection of 30 cal's!
Thanks for sharing.

Re: New 30 Remington
Thanks Hibby83 for the compliments! I’ve had at least one 81 in 30 Rem for close to 25 years, migrated the pump rifles but was only recently aware of the Model 30’s. The 30-06 versions don’t trip my trigger, and ofcourse they’re by far the most commonly encountered versions. For good reason, 30-06 whoops 30 Rem pretty hard! But yes, the this one is a sweet soft shooter! According to some research, Remington made these in all the rimless Remington cartridges as well as 257 Roberts. I would absolutely love to find one in 35 Remington. I have never seen one. In last couple years I’ve seen a couple in 25 Remington come up for auction, never seen a 32. I missed out on an auction for a Remington No 4 rolling block single shot in 30 Rem last summer. Another rifle I wasn’t aware of till I saw one! Here is a 7 shot group at 100 yards with the Model 30 . A handload with a 150 gr Hornady RN and IMR 3031 powder. Not a target rifle, but not bad for a 99 year old rifle. Didn’t even touch scope adjustment. It was dead on.

Re: New 30 Remington
Love it! Great photos!
I've looked at Model 30 Express rifles for years. I think they look so cool. I'd love one in 35 Remington.
Your setup is slick looking. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Re: New 30 Remington
Nice Model 30 Remington you have there. I am another fan of the Model 30's in the Remington Rimless chamberings.
Although I have not yet owned one of these, I have owned a WW1 era Model 1917 Enfield in years gone by. My dream Model 30 would be: 35 Remington!
Here are a few screen grabs of a Model 30 that slipped through my fingers years ago. I just love the history!

Re: New 30 Remington
I looked into a recent auction and saw that you have a 30 Rem coming your way. Congratulations! It sure looks like a nice one, blue, wood and checkering all stood the test of time "99 years."9.3shooter wrote: ↑Fri Oct 24, 2025 6:41 pm A couple of mentions of wanting a Model 30 in .35 Rem...

Yes, had to pay a bit more than planned but it should be a funner. Looking forward to it. Thanks!

Re: New 30 Remington
Had a chance to handle this model 30 yesterday at the LGS, now 2 weeks of state jail time to bring it home. Rifle looked great in all ways. I have a vintage Redfield peep sight ready to screw on.
Should be a good shooter.
