FN 1900 at Auction

Post by DocSavage »

Greetings from a New Guy!

There’s a very attractive FN 1900 up for auction near me. I can vouch for the auction house. I won’t be bidding. I’m a shooter, not a collector.

I recently acquired a Frankenremington 81. Sorry, no photos yet. By serial number, the receiver was manufactured in 1937. By date code, the 300 Savage barrel is from 1946. The receiver is reblued with the logo and serial number darn near polished out.

I cleaned the thick layer of dust and scrubbed the bore. On its first outing last weekend it was quite accurate but had consistent failures to feed. I’ll give it a thorough teardown and cleaning per the video linked here and give it another try.

Most excellent, thank you! I would not have thought to check that.
