Need help Identifying my Woodmaster 81

Post by FireCode »

First of all, it's great to have a place to find out information on these great rifles. ;) My first post here so thank you for taking my questions.

I have in my possesion a .35 Woodmaster Model 81. I went to the page listing serial numbers and I don't believe I found mine on there....unless I have no clue where the serial number is on this gun. Anyway, I believe the serial number is 55401 which is the # located right under the Remington stamp, right above the trigger. The gun is in great shape and I will be looking to sell very soon... Help me out guys :D What year gun is this? I have looked up and down this gun and can't find it.

EDIT: barrel stamp code is OWW so July 1950 i believe.

Firecode, first off welcome to the Great 8 website! Second, I believe you answered your own questions. Your serial number is as you suspect, #55401 and your rifle was mfg in July 1950...a late production gun.

Sounds good man! I guess I'll get some good pics and put it up for sale in the classified section. What other places should I list it?

You might want to take a look at putting it up for auction on GunBrokers, AuctionArms, etc. or check their "actual sales" to get fairly close on a price to post it here or in local classifieds, etc.

In our Trading Post - For Sale section I've posted some of my experiences regarding buying off the internet, could be helpful regarding selling too.

Enjoy

I also just got an OWW assembly date code (7/1950) M81, in .30R. Mine's SN is 55,90X. Not too far apart.
