AK47....

Post by Telson »

Is what got me hungry for a Model 8/81, before I had even heard of the the great 8&81, I thought oh Mr. Kalishnikov what an inovator you are!! Only to find out that Saint John was behind his oh so original design lol. So having built a couple commie guns I now have stuff to get rid of to feed my 81 I have coming this Friday! So I'm glad to be here to gain some insight on what will be my hunting work horse!

After reading your post Telson I was actually sitting here tonight looking at my model 8 and thinking it appeared too be the bastard child of Soviet arms. The humpback receiver of an SKS, the rotating bolt and safety of an ak-47, and the trigger bow and magazine of the Mosin Nagant...

Actually the soviet arms would be the bastard child of their grandfather the Model 8!

Cam, you beat me to it.

45guy you need to tell Santa that you need a copy of John Henwood's book on M8/81; but then you would probably get carried away like I did and want one on Mausers, 45acp's, military rifles, Marlins, ...
