New Member with a question

Post by Harly »

Hi, Just became a member. I have a 1932 model 8, serial 65902 in 35 Rem. Couple years ago I bought a NOS Lyman tang peep sight for this rifle. Found a place on line to by the screw to attach the scope to the rifle. Also purchased a shorter screw to fill the hole if I didn't want the tang sight mounted. Neither screw fits the hole. I have tried not to screw up the threads but they may have been cross threaded years ago. My question; What is the tread size for this hole if I want to clean it out? Was this hole factory drilled or was it added later?

Welcome and hope we can help you with the question. The tang sight screw hole was factory drilled .Who knows what was done with it before you became the owner. You didn`t say where you found the screws but several us on the forum depend on Joe Hulett at joe@aperturesnmore.com to supply us with the screws and other items peculiar to the 8`s and 81`s. I`m sure he could advise you what thread that it should have.

Like Sarge said. Joel is also on FleaBay as "Win6798" - know his stuff.
