Successor to the 8/81?

This purports to be a 1940s prototype of a Remington 4 shot semi-automatic rifle in .300 Savage. I don't have any more information than that...does any one else know about this fascinating looking gun? Comes from http://milpas.cc/rifles/ A site with quite a few interesting guns. This is one I've never seen before.

Where did the picture come from? It does not appear to be a long-recoil action. First thought was it reminds me a lot of the Russian SKS or a Johnson.
