I now own a Remington model 14
I now own a Remington model 14
in .25 Remington. Yahooo!!! It is in great shape, tight, and the wood is nice too. It was made in 1914 I was told. Going to deer hunt with it as well as my 81 in .300 Savage...d2

Is it as pretty as the pictures indicates? Great gun! Drooooooooooool-city!!
Though defensive violence will always be “a sad necessity” in the eyes of men of principle, it would be still more unfortunate if wrongdoers should dominate just men. - St. Augustine
Re: I now own a Remington model 14
As I mentioned in a previous posting, back 50+ years ago, I saw a lot of Model 14s, and they were common in hunter's hands, and pretty cheap to buy. I very seldom see one now. Several months back, I saw one in .30 Rem at a gun show, for which the seller wanted $200. But it was in the "Roach Gun" category with a badly rusted bore. I threw out a lowball offer, and I was happy enough to walk away when he did not accept it.
I don't think he knew anything about it, as he insisted it was a .30-30, and had never heard of the .30 Remington (which was what was stamped on the case head insert on the receiver).
