Have never been to the Tulsa show, but have heard from others it is one of the largest and best in the country. It's a little far for me to drive to, so I'm not likely to be there. But I'd like to know more about it.

You should make it out sometime Dwalt. Awesome show, they say its like 11 acres of firearms. I had the opportunity to meet up with Bob, Corey, and Brian Creamer as well as Tom Ramsey. Great guys, real 8/81 experts. Corey actually mentioned having a Great Model 8 meet up there next fall would be a good idea.

Surprisingly didn't see many 8/81's at the show, maybe 6 or 7. One was reblued and chambered in 250-3000 Savage. The caliber stamp was on the receiver and it looked professionally done. The original caliber roll mark on the barrel extension was ground off, again professional looking. I was told by Bob that a gunsmith in Klamath Falls kinda had a niche for doing these conversions back in the day.

Nothing else spectacular, there was one Model 8 Police magazine (15 rounds) and it sold very quickly.

Just slumming huh? ;) What a privilege it had to be to visit with the Creamers all day.

So, did you see everything at the show? :o
From Wanemmacher's web site:
If all our tables (2800 8ft. and 1200 6ft.) were placed end to end they would stretch 5.7 miles! If you spend the whole 18 hours we are open to the public and divide that by 4,100 tables, You will have 15.8 seconds to look at each table.

My feet & back hurt just thinking about it - but I wouldn't miss it for the world if I had the chance to go!
Though defensive violence will always be “a sad necessity” in the eyes of men of principle, it would be still more unfortunate if wrongdoers should dominate just men. - St. Augustine

Last SHOT Show I attended was at the Las Vegas Convention Center (2008). I spent 3 full days there and still didn't see it all - plus no place to sit down that wasn't already occupied. I really haven't wanted to go to another SHOT Show since - just too much standing and walking at my age. The local monthly gun show takes me maybe 3 hours to get around, and that's about my limit. I keep talking about going to one of the Houston gun shows, much larger, but I haven't made it yet. That would have to be an overnight trip.

Back in my relative youth (mid 1960s-mid 1970s), I used to go regularly to the legendary Ohio Gun Collector Association (OGCA) shows in Columbus, and they were great, with many more high-quality and interesting guns than I have seen anywhere since. That one used to take the better part of two days (10-12 hours) to see everything. But I had a lot more stamina then. Alas, the city anti-gun forces shut it down many years back, and I understand that even though it's still held somewhere in northern Ohio, it's nothing like it used to be. I expect the Tulsa show is somewhat comparable to the old OGCA shows.
