Hello and welcome. There is one listed on GB right now with 5 days to go started at $50.It is listed as for 300 Savage but magazine is the same for 35. By the way it holds 4 rounds in 300 and 35 not 5.Good luck.

Great looking there Joe! And just as a follow up to what he said, the magazine in the auction is for an early Model 8 (with no provision for side springs). Now this could essentially work in a Model 81, but the magazines for Model 81's came with a left and right side spring not like the one in the auction.

Since these magazines are not detachable from the factory, did your father loose his magazine during disassembly or is his one of the few converted to detachable magazine? If his is a detachable version finding a magazine to replace the lost one is a whole other ball game, one will have to be made in order to work. If we could see some pictures of the rifle I could offer suggestions.

Rob, was it a detachable (not original) and usually had to be reconfigured. Or an original that was just mislaid when the receiver was taken apart?

I was able to get some pictures this weekend of it.
my guess is its a Krieger Conv. as we are about 25 miles from mount clemens.

Rob,

That is indeed a Krieger conversion. A standard 8/81 magazine will probably not fit correctly in that rifle. You'd need an original Krieger magazine or one modified in similar fashion to work. In all the years of auction watching, I've only ever seen 1 spare Krieger magazine.

A friend named Pete has extensive work with Kriegers. He may be contacted below. I know he's made up a few magazines before.

Thank you so much, I contacted Pete, he seems like a nice guy, my dad is going to see about obtaining a mag from him.
Thank you again.
