The rare POE Model 81

Post by 81police »

Before Remington began production of their "Special Police" Model 81 in 1940, Peace Officers' Equip. Co. was converting Model 81's with 15 round mags for their own sale possibly from 1936-1939. Since they were converted by POE and not Remington, their barrel locks & barrel lock screws were modified like their previously converted Model 8 counterparts (which differ from the Special Police versions). All of these should be early Model 81's and some have POE Model 8 style beavertail forearms and use Model 8 style 15 round magazines. Here's one I believe is a POE built Model 81 that went for auction today for 3k + buyer's premium.

Notice the Model 8 style magazine and forearm. Cal. 35Rem mfg in 1937. VERY COOL RIFLE! :D

Very cool.
