Resisting adding "New" 8`s and 81`s

Post by Sarge756 »

All,
Resistance to our shared affliction has been discussed on many threads. Given unlimited funds I`m sure most of us would soon be out of room to store the 8`s and 81`s added to the collection. The funds unlimited not being in my future, new additions have been at a standstill for awhile. That, and straying off the plantation to acquire other rifles of different interests have also contributed to the lack of "new" 8`s and 81`s added. I promise to get back on track this coming year and get busy buying some more 8`s and 81`s. One in 25 Rem is a definite possibility.
Resistance to new ones in my case has been helped by working on some of the ones I already own. Have one in 30 Rem that came as a project with a reproduction unfinished stock from our own Remcrazy.Another project came up to do a semi-complicated checkering design for a 99 Savage stock that shares the similar-type rounded pistol grip on Remcrazy`s stock. Work almost completed with just a bit of final finish and a few over-runs to address and will have it on the way to the owner in next day or two. Work on the "Remcrazy" stock soon to begin with lessons learned on this 99 Savage stock. May have to reconsider the 22 LPI checkering used there and go with 18 or 20. That fine checkering looks great but my eyes are not what they once were.
Wish you a Merry Christmas and more beautiful 8`s and 81`s for your collections.
Joe
