No clue, that's a new one to me. You're right though it does look really well done. Maybe it was a one off by a really good gunsmith?
Nice to see that rifle's sight still has its aperture!

Cam,
I was inclined to believe it was a "one of" as well. It is a nice job and I think it is kind if neat.

Hey Silvermino,
It took me a little time to respond to your question because I was out of state for 10 days. I was pretty certain that I had one of the same kind of sling mount on one of my rifles and had to wait until I got home to verify it. The rifle that has one like yours appears to be silver soldered and it was done very well.
Mitch Silvers bought the gun for me in California and is a 1945 Model 81 in the 300 savage. My mount is located about 1/2" below the screw in the barrel jacket. I thought it was strange the gun had this sling put on in this location since the jacket had a place for the standard sling mount. I'll try and get a picture and send it to Mitch to post for me.

Mitch, thanks for posting Jacks pictures. It might be good to have a thread for posting pictures of any non-factory mods made to these rifles.

I second the idea for a "picture forum/thread for non-factory mods". Would be interesting as well as helpful - perhaps keep some of us from falling for something we didn't want.
