serial #'s on parts model 81

I took my 81 stock off to clean up some scratches and discover the serial stamped on the back of the butt plate,on the underside of stock,on the trigger guard, the barrel jacket and on therear tang, Is this normal?? all matching parts ? just very curious. thanks jim

Yes and no, was done on the higher grades to keep all the parts together as they were fitted and worked on. It was sometimes also done on standard or A grades at random.

At least now when you have a dozen and have taken them all down to compare the... (BTW way don't do that and don't ask me how I know that this is a bad thing :oops: ) then you'll know what goes to this particular gun.

Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!! I took another one I had apart ....ALLAPART!!!!!!!!!!!!!! took 3 days to get it all back and working .....my fingers hurt for a week ....never again LOL jim :twisted: :oops:
